Courses Offered Year Round
CNA
A Certified Nursing Assistant performs many basic care tasks for patients, like grooming, dressing, and assists the nursing staff with medical tasks like taking blood and reporting patient behavior and wellbeing. CNAs assist patients with ADLs such as feeding, mouth care, grooming, shaving, and incontinence care and help nurses with the care of residents. They measure and record patient vital signs, assist with restorative care, transport residents to appointments, and build a relaxing environment for residents and family members.
HHA
Home health aides are considered health care paraprofessionals and must meet state-set training requirements. They might live with the care recipient or work regular shifts. Along with doing routine chores that the care recipient can no longer manage, such as laundry, cooking, and shopping, the aides must be able to:
Assist with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, eating, grooming, moving from one place to another, toileting, and cleaning up afterward.
Monitor a client's physical and mental condition, check vital signs, such as blood pressure, respiration, and pulse, the level of exercise, and how much they are eating, drinking, and going to the bathroom.
CEU
Continuing education units, or CEUs, are awarded by many education and training providers to signify successful completion of non-credit programs and courses intended to improve the knowledge and skills of working adults. Designed to keep health care workers up-to-date on medical advances, continuing education (CE) credits are an educational requirement for professionals with health care careers. CE has been highly effective at improving patient outcomes and saving lives. The CEU is defined as 10 contact hours in an organized continuing education activity.

Adult learners are usually mature and self-confident enough to know how they learn best, their areas of strengths and weaknesses, and how to go about learning. They don't require much help acquiring resources or developing goals for learning because, in most cases, they have done this before and already have reasons for being in school again. No matter how old your adult learners are or what type of life they have led thus far, every one of your students will have acquired an extensive cache of experiences that you can draw on to make the most of what everyone brings to the table.
PLANNING IMPLEMENTING PLUS EVALUATING & INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM
36 HRS CONTINUING EDUCATION COURSE
Defining and designing effective professional learning opportunities for educators is vital to implementing new knowledge, skills, and strategies that lead to increased learning for students. Research tells us that many schools are still focusing much of their professional learning efforts/resources on "one-shot" professional learning opportunities with little or no follow-up, either in or out of the district. Conferences, the one or two-day professional learning planned before school, and one-shot workshops during the year are good vehicles for awareness to connect educators to the latest research and technology or introduce new knowledge and strategies. But they cannot change practice in the classroom.

CPR / BLS
About 92 percent of sudden cardiac arrest victims die before reaching the hospital, but statistics prove that if more people knew CPR, more lives could be saved. Becoming trained in CPR can lead individuals to save someone's life before the emergency teams' arrival. Principles in BLS – Look, listen, and feel for effective breathing for 10 seconds – if breathing is absent, declare cardiac arrest. During training, you will be taught the Rescue breath technique, which is opening the airway using head tilt chin lift maneuver or jaw thrust. The primary skills taught in the BLS course include basic mouth-to-mouth resuscitation and CPR. Training will also include CPR for infants, children, and adults as different procedures must be taken for each group.
